To gain additional production capacity, an existing warehouse owned by Mathilde Balzer GmbH & Co. KG needed to be converted into a food processing facility and expanded. The hall was neither insulated nor prepared for production areas and drainage. A lack of docking height hindered truck deliveries. At the same time, existing structures, hygiene standards, building technology, and production workflows had to be precisely coordinated.

PROJECT TIMELINE
Approx. 1.5 years
Initial Situation & Challenge
A warehouse became a fully functional food processing plant.
Execution of Works
The front yard was lowered to enable smooth truck deliveries. Simultaneously, KBG adapted the building envelope to meet the thermal and hygienic requirements of food processing. Inside, new production rooms were built; additionally, the hall floor was opened up and drainage was tailored to the machinery and cleaning processes. KBG complemented the existing hall with an extension for further production steps. Buildings, material flows, hygiene zones, and technical interfaces were planned as an integrated system. Existing structures and new additions were connected structurally and functionally. Short distances and clearly guided product flows support daily production processes.
THE RESULT
A future-proof production facility within existing structures
Within roughly 1.5 years, a modern production site for poultry specialties was established. KBG combined facility conversion, expansion, and production planning into a cost-effective and functional overall solution.
